Food Fight! Inside the battle for Market Basket

Free showing of the 2016 film Food Fight: Inside the Battle for Market Basket, followed by discussion. Saturday, March 30, 2019, 7 pm at Warner Town Hall. Throughout the summer of 2014, a corporate food fight played out in dozens of communities impacting tens of thousands of workers and the economies of three states. When the faction of the Market Basket board headed by Arthur S. Demoulas fired his cousin and arch-rival Arthur T. Demoulas as long-time CEO of the successful supermarket chain, it set off a firestorm that sparked one of most unique corporate dramas in American history. It’s what the New York Times called the last stand for the middle class. FOOD FIGHT is the story of the battle to save Market Basket, and about the power of ordinary, passionate people to rewrite corporate history. Free popcorn: donations accepted to cover cost of screening rights. Come share your memories of living through the employee and customer-supported store boycott! https://www.foodfightfilm.com/

Library encourages "Blind Date" with books

"Blind Date with a Book" is a fun way to discover new books. Choose a wrapped book from our display at random or based on the "personal ads" attached that describe the book inside. Each time you check one out in the next two weeks you can enter your name for a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to The Local restaurant. The winning name will be drawn on Thursday February 14 at 5 pm at the library.
There are "dates" for all types, and all come recommended by local readers. Take a chance! You may "meet" an Author you really like and want a second "date"!
